Amy Dunlop

Amy is the eldest daughter of Georgie and Dave Beattie (who owns skivo) and was brought up here in Courchevel where she completed all her schooling.  Having completed her degree back in the UK she then returned to France.

Amy’s journey with languages began in her youth is where her drive for the language camp started.  Growing up in France and experiencing the challenges of adjusting to a new language and culture has undoubtedly shaped her approach to teaching. Her passion for making language learning fun and engaging is a wonderful quality, especially given her background in overcoming language barriers herself.

Her experience working at international language camps and teaching French online throughout Covid has provided here with a variety of differing teaching techniques and insights into her teaching style. Not to forget many of you will know Amy from teaching skiing on the Courchevel slops which has also influenced and added to her teaching style, emphasising interaction and excitement.

With her extensive experience and passion, Amy is set to create a memorable and effective language learning experience for all her students.

Amy currently splits her time during the year with husband Adrian (who also used to teach skiing for skivo) and their 2 children (Rory and Isla) in Singapore, Scotland, England and Courchevel.

What’s it all about

In summer 2025 we will be launching our new and exciting “French Experience” adventure for your little ones.

On offer will be a fun packed week learning French in the Alps in Courchevel.  The children will learn in a creative setting whilst exploring the mountains and putting what they are learning in to action each day! 

The programme is designed for all abilities - from beginner to advanced.  Our language lessons will focus on learning to use French in a conversational way and the activities are purposely designed to feel less like a typical classroom environment. Sometimes the classes will head out to a local market or perhaps practice skills on a treasure hunt.

The Alpine Language Program will build children’s confidence and help them gain the fundamental skills to begin their journey into learning a new language or continue to progress and improve.

Whether they are at the beginning of their journey or to improve and gain more confidence within their current French ability - we offer something for everyone.

Here at the Alpine Language Camp, we believe that learning should be fun and creative. Our language classes are designed to help your child enjoy and want to take their French to a new level.  We deliver this through active and fun learning.  We have designed our programme to ensure that it is an enjoyable and exciting experience and not your usual sit down school setting.  Your children will leave our camp eager to keep learning and with a real taste for the French language and culture.

Our Alpine Language Camp is the perfect balance of education and activities for your children. They will be spending their morning diving into the French language through creative learning and spend their afternoons exploring the French Alps doing activities which range from swimming and paddle boarding in the le Praz and Bozel lakes, mountain walks, picnics by Lac Rosiere to the French equivalent of ‘Go Ape’ - the options are endless.

At the end of each week, each child will return with:

• Work book
• A video of the end of week play (sent via email to all parents)
• End of school camp medal
• And of course their new French language skills and a desire to return to our camp next year!

Who is it for

The Alpine Language Camp is for children ages between 7-14 years old. Our morning French classes will be in groups of 2-4 children maximum to allow everyone to get the attention and focus they require.

Our camp is designed to be unique and personal, meaning we will have limited availability.

Costs

The price for a one week camp session is £1,900 per child based on a shared room

Included in the price?

• Shared room (all rooms are ensuite) in a luxury mountain chalet with hot tub
• 3 healthy meals prepared by our amazing chef + snacks
• 2 x camp t-shirts
• Transfer if required (please discuss your airport choice with Amy before booking flights for your child)
• 3 hour French lesson per day by our dedicated French teachers
• 1 afternoon activity per day
• Exceptional day & night staff
• A weekly report including photos and the video of the end of week play (sent via email)

NB:  All staff are first aid trained and CRB checked

Arrival day options

Option 1:
Parents drop off at our Chalet in Courchevel Le Praz giving them the opportunity to view the property and allow children to settle in.

Option 2:
We will pick children up at Geneva airport and they can fly with unaccompanied minor service.
